1: Geeky Choice
This book has specific target audience that will be your geeky Girl Friend or perfect gift for your literature professor father-in-law or if you are in that age range .That is specific target audience as every one liner is accompanied by 7 lines of history behind it,Like at what time it was quoted and stuff....People who like history genre will definitely like it but ordinary HBO,Comedy Central nation will prefer other quick joke books .So Choose this book if you belong to talented audience but avoid if you want quick quirks .

2: A Fabulous Compendium of Wit
This is a brilliant collection of history's greatest replies. Grothe, in his chapter arrangement, divides the vast body of repartee into distinctive categories, of which each is highly intelligent and entertaining. For each witty quotation, Grothe includes not only the author but also a paragraph on the context that made the reply so great; it is amazing that so many perfect phrases were said at the time they were said. And some men and women were exceedingly clever--these masters of wit appear in the book many times.
I'm an Oscar Wilde fan, so I'll give one of his examples. In Chapter 1, "Classic Retorts, Ripostes, & Rejoinders," Grothe tells a story in which Oscar, after one of his plays, received much applause and flowers, as well as a rotten cabbage. Oscar then picked up the trash and replied:
"Thank you, my dear fellow. Every time I smell it, I shall be reminded of you."
I enthusiastically recommend this book for lovers of words and wit.

3: Savor this gem!
This is one of the most delightful books you will ever buy. The fact that it's on sale on Amazon for less than $6 is unbelievable. Give it as a gift to all of your intelligent, witty friends and by all means, keep a copy for yourself. It will charm you, make you everyone's favorite dinner companion, and send you to bed with a smile on your face and a longing for the times when wits used words with elegance and good humor, rather than as clubs for whacking opponents. Dr. Mardy Grothe is consistently good, insightful and funny. I wait for the publication of his books and always sign up early to purchase them. In addition, I would recommend Bartlett's Book of Anecdotes, edited by Clifton Fadiman and Andre Bernard. Like Viva La Repartee, it will give you moments when you roar, snort, giggle, and collapse with laughter. What better gift could there be?

4: Great book
As one reviewer of this book wrote:"This book isn't guaranteed to make you more clever, but it certainly can't hurt." This book is ingeniously written. Don't be alarmed if you find yourself laughing aloud. This book will keep you engaged from beginning to end. I have recommended it to several friends already.
