1: Amazing story with fairy tale ending
Oliver didn't quite put his foot down as his marriage crumbled with Sarah. He pretty much took it all in stride. But I guess he loved her enough to let her go. It just struck me as kinda odd. Life manages to drudge on for the remaining fragmented Watson family and its ups and downs threaten the balance of daily life. But Oliver carries on and is finally happy in the end. And enjoyable read for me.

2: Good read
This is one of those books that makes you say "See, everything turns out ok in the end". As most of Danielle's books do. This is a story of heartbreak, family disfunction, unconditional love and failure. But it is nice to see that in the end, the family does come together even if it is a bit different than it began. Good story and you really can relate no matter what your family life is like.

3: Daddy
Another happy-ending Danielle Steele novel that involves Oliver, a successful advertising agent, his wife Sarah and their 3 children. After 20 years of marriage, Sarah decides she had enough of being a wife to a successful man and the mother of his children. She was smart and ambitious also. Without her husband knowing, she applies to Harvard and is accepted into their MBA program. When she tells her husband, he and their children are devastated. She decides to move out of their wealthy home in New York and travels to Cambridge where she then attends college. The story begins here and then tells how Oliver's and the children's lives change as a result of her decision. A heartwarming story that I recommend highly especially at holiday time.

4: Not just a tawdry romance
"Daddy" is about Oliver Watson who thinks he has everything. He has a great life with the quentissential American Dream: wife, kids, house, dog. That is, until his wife Sarah decides that she wants to go back to school...away from him and the kids.Everything in Oliver's world starts to fall apart: his oldest son gets a girl pregnant and his mother with Alzheimer's is in an accident and dies. Through watching his family cope with the obstacles in their lives and watching his father fall in love again, Oliver realizes that he too must move on with his life. This was the first Danielle Steel novel that I read and I was impresses. It wasn't just a tawdry romance novel. There was also a made-for-TV movie based on this book. It starred Patrick Duffy (Oliver), Linda Carter (Charlotte) and Kate Mulgrew (Sarah). Ben Affleck played the oldest son.

5: Not A Page Turner!
After reading Silent Honor, A Pefect Stranger and many before, I thought I really loved Danielle Steel's books. But then...I read Fine Things and then Daddy, I didn't like all two of them. I noticed that in these three books, that someone leaves and then their spouse quickly remarries. Kind of the same plot over and over!
I feel that her best book was The Promise, the characters ended up together at the end (GREAT BOOK!)
