1: It's a handbag book
I bought this book not long ago to carry with me when out crystal shopping or just to have it in my handbag when I might come accross something special in a store and need identifying.
Table of content:
Part One, The Power of Crystals:
-Healing traditions
-The geology of gems
-Your crystal collection
-Crystal healing techniques
-Crystal layouts
-Crystal meditations
This is up to page 42 so only a small part of the book is dedicated to the above subjects.
Part two, A Guide to Crystals:
The rest of the book describes the individual crystals which are organized by color. Every crystal has a two page layout and within the information as follows:
-Name of the crystal
-Chemical compositon
-General description
-Identification and Care
-Colour, Hardness, Lustre, System
-Magical properties
-Healing functions
-Practical ideas
-Keywords (like grounding, protecting etc.)
-Similar stones
-1 or 2 colored pictures of crystal
Than a Glossary follows and the Mineralogical information which includes the Mohs scale and the Chemical symbols. Bibliography, Crystal healing association and the Index.
I gave this book 4 stars because the information is limited however, I am a novice in crystal healing so for me it's a perfect starting point. I think later on I'll have to invest in other books. My main reason for buying this particluar book was its size.

2: The Essential Crystal Handbook
Excellent book. Not only does it give information about the crystals as to physical composition and locations of the crystals, it explains some of the mysticism, as well as some of the healing properties of the crystals. Organized by color of the crystals, it makes quick referencing possible. Highly recommend this book.

3: Very useful information.
This tiny book you could drop into a pocket or purse has brilliant color photos, metaphysical properties, magickal properties, chemical composition of the stone, and in most occasions it also has the moh's hardness scale of the stone.
All of this is wonderful information that is often difficult to find especially the chemical composition, and the Moh's hardness scale rating.
I give this book four stars instead of five because.
1. this book is not as complete as "The Crystal Bible" Judy Hall, and deffinately NOT as comprehensive as "Love Is In The Earth: A Kaleidoscope Of Crystals" A. Melody.
2. the information about the crystals is organized badly. The information of the crystals is organized according to the color of the crystal INSTEAD of alphabetically which it should be.
Even with it's faults; I AM recommending this volume. I will be taking this book with me when I go to crystal shows.
This book has faults; but still very useful, and certainly more portable than the other two books I recommended above.
