1: Bear Games and More!
In the fine tradition of his "Little Bear" books, Martin Waddell has created another timeless classic for young children and their weary parents. Little Bear wants to play but Big Bear has chores to do. Little Bear "helps" Big Bear for awhile, but ends up having to entertain himself... but by the time the chores are finished, Big Bear is exhausted... Barbara Firth has created winsome illustrations that will draw you in and make you feel that being a bear and living in a cave (with a fireplace and "bear chair") might not be all that bad. At our house, Big Bear and Little Bear are good friends and are dearly loved... all because of the winning combination of a warm story of a parent-child relationship and the cozy illustrations that accompany it. A lovely book to share with your child and a gentle reminder to parents that this time with little ones is precious (and fleeting).

2: Gentle popular story
My 2 year old likes this short story about a big bear and a little bear spending the day together. The big bear does chores and the little bear helps. The little bear also plays by himself while the big bear is busy. Eventually they play together (hide and seek and bat and ball) before going home in the evening. My little girl likes the page where little bear plays by himself - there are little pictures of him sliding and swinging and playing with sticks. I disagree with the "no rhythm" review. Its not a complex text but adequate and the pictures are charming.

3: Our favorite book
This is a sweet book, plain and simple. It is a father and son bonding story. My wife included a picture of her "big bear" and "little bear" in the inside front cover.Our 2 year old son enjoys reading the book.

4: Perfect bedtime book
As with all Martim Waddell's books about Little Bear, this is a perfect bedtime book. The text is very comforting, happy, and easy to understand. It is a book that leaves you and your child feeling good as it concentrates on the parent/child bond. I like leaving my kids with this story in their heads at bedtime.

5: A Gentle Reminder
This is a very good book for those busy parents out there. Not because it is such an outstanding book, and children love it so much, but because it is a nice, gentle reminder to make time for our 'little bears'. When Little Bear wants Big Bear to play with him, Big Bear isn't able to because he/she has to do some work. Little Bear isn't exactly like my 'little bear'. When Little Bear wants to play with Big Bear, Little Bear happens to be very patient and take Big Bear's work all in stride (and actually helps out some too). But like I said, it is a gentle reminder that even on our busiest and most hectic days, we still need to spend some good quality time with our own precious 'Little Bears'.Now the down side. The Little Bear, Big Bear phrases get old. But my 3 1/2 year old and my 2 year old don't seem to mind. It won't be a book you will want to read every night, but it is definately one for you to have on your bookshelves. If for no other reason than to remind you to spend time with your children. In fact. This book is going by my bedside, rather than in their bookshelves just to remind me that I should always take a little time out of every day to spend with my little bears.
