1: Excellent Book For Those Working With Herbs and The Earth
I feel right at home reading this. It has a lot of good, useful information that is clearly laid out.
|
2: THE definitive herbal resource
Gladstar's book is the definitive herbal. It's balanced for all ages and both sexes. This woman cares not only for those individuals she helps, but for the plants and the planet. She really knows what she's talking about. If you only have one herbal healing book, make it this one.

3: All-in-one Family Herbal
This book is awesome!! What attracted me to it is that it is used as a textbook in several alternative medicine classes. Rosemary is very good at explaining herbs, suggesting recipes, teaching how to make medicine, and recommending alternatives for your particular situation.
I would have given her 5 stars, but she makes a couple of recommendations for children that are potentially dangerous. First, she discusses honey for infants. She points out, which is true, that raw honey has been given to children under 1 in cultures around the world, for many years. However, with the current methods in industrialized countries for gathering and storing honey, the risk of botulism in babies is just too great to even cosider using it for this age group. Just wait the year, please. Also, she suggest enemas for children as an unintrusive remedy for common complaints. Enemas are now counterindicated, especially for children under 6, as there is a risk of severe dehydration and rectal irritation.
So, while is an incredibly user-friendly family herbal, and I would highly recommend it, I feel that consultation with other sources or a family practioner would be a cautious complement.

4: Rosemary Gladstars Family Herbal
A sound and wise voice of American Herbalism. A great, pretty text that is easy to read and full of helpful recipes and remedys.
|
5: Great easy recipes and thorough info
This is the best book. I am using it as one of my textbooks for a Botanical Pharmacology class. It is very refreshing to read and learn from an entertaining and beautiful book. Gladstar writes well and I love that she includes personal anecdotes.
