Customer Review:

1: boring book
the book is a little bit boring,
I bought the whole series, and my daughter just spent 3 minutes reading it since it sit in the shelf for one year.

2: Great First Book(s)
Our son received the boxed set of four tiny board books including "I Can", "I Touch", "I Hear" and "I See" as a gift when he was born. These were the first books we ever read to him and we started when he was just a few months old.

Being small board books, they were great for a first book because our son could hold them and even chew on them and really get interested in the idea of a book. He could hold one while we read another. Being simple picture books with a cute baby as the focus, the books seem to hold an infants attention and we had lots of opportunity for interaction. I talked a lot about what the baby was doing and feeling -- as well as the other objects on each page.

When our son started standing and walking, he started imitated the actions in "I Can." At 23 months, he still picks these books up and goes through them by himself from time to time. The books have gotten so much use that they are falling apart!

I'm online looking for the boxed set to give to friends with a newborn...

3: Fun and simple enough for babies and toddlers
My daughters found this fun when they were babies and toddlers, and I found it simple enough to keep the attention of such young children. It can be a fun activity book, with the children mimicing everything they see.

4: I guess I'm not smitten . . .
I'm not as smitten with this book as some people seem to be. The illustrations are all of a baby boy doing various actions, with the one word verb on each page. The colors are light pastels, which feel pale and washed out. The boy, who appears to be caucasian, has a face with a line mouth and dots for eyes, which is not very interesting to me. The verbs illustrated include "fall" and "slide", which may be difficult for a toddler to do in their living room. (Or they may be fun, I guess it's been a while since I have been a toddler).

I more impressed with another board book, "Watch Me Dance" by Andrea and Brian Pinkney. The book is about a girl showing her little brother how to dance. The text is a simple poem, with a dance-like rhythm. It also describes movements that a toddler can imitate. The colors are vibrant and the artwork is more beautiful. I like the family context of Watch Me Dance, because it is modeling an older sibling teaching a younger one.

My baby is only 9 months old now, and he is too excited about crawing these days to take much interest in books. So, I'll have to see if he ends up liking "I Can" more than I do.

5: Entire Family Fun
My older daughters, aged 19 and 15 love to read this to their little brother aged 20 months. He goes through all of the activities and the girls laugh and giggle while he bends, jumbs, dances and stretches. A book that encourages easy and quick to read and encourages involvement. Some evenings I think those girls read it to him a dozen times!
