1: Toronto's International Cosmopolitan Beauty Captured
I lived in Toronto more than half my life by the time I left it (for now) ... and the city never dissapointed me. It had all the richness of culture and cosmopolitan that its diversity offered. Toronto the city was like a lover who stayed so long and witnessed so many key moments in my life that its made a mark. I can't call Calgary, Alberta my hometown - just my childhood home - because everything I feel I learned in life .... happened in Toronto. Toronto taught me how ... over and over again.
Sometimes you can love a place so much ... even after it has served its purpose ... even after the era it was meant to provide is done and complete ... that you never truly let it go.
The fictional Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw called New York her lover in one episode. Candace Bushnell, the SATC author, considered her books to be one long love letter to Manhattan. Armistead Maupin wrote Tales of the City as a long amour for San Francisco. For anyone who falls in love at first sight with a city, this book explains why.
Toronto is the lover who is no longer meant to be with you on your life journey going forward ... who you refuse to get over 100%. Toronto is the lover whom you won't go back to because your life has taken a different turn yet you look back on with rose colored glasses .... Toronto is the lover who rescued me from a redneck mountain town when I was barely legal but no longer can give me anything really new but yet I compare every other place to. Toronto is the lover who fundamentally shaped your identity that no matter how far you go ... it is in you. So visit Toronto. And perhaps you will see what I'm talking about.
If you ever see the Canadian documentary "Let's All Hate Toronto" .... its just jealousy from the rest of Canada and there "tall poppy syndrome"

2: Next best thing to being there
We were fortunate enough to take one of Bruce's tours when visiting Toronto. In person he's knowledgeable, charming and loads of fun to spend time with. This book is the next best thing to actually walking around Toronto with Bruce. He knows the city inside and out and the book if full of interesting information and stunning pictures. It's great for anyone who's ever visited Toronto - or would like to.
