1: Hope and Herbs
This is a very thorough book about treating Lyme with herbs. I have little knowledge of Herbs and less about medicine so it was not an easy read but it is written in a manner that makes it useful on many levels. There are boxed sections that provide a synopsis of the main text. A complete treatment protcol is listed in a basic and advanced method for specific symptoms.
It is guide to various Lyme related problems and herbs that have been used to treat them including dosage used and detailed descriptions of the herbal compounds, including reliable low cost sources and in some cases specific brands. There are references to the various studies that have been done with the herbs. On rereading parts of the book I am getting a better understanding of how herbal healing works. If you are interested in treating Lyme with herbs this book is a must have. It is very uplifting to read how people have been cured of so many serious diseases including Lyme,Cancer,Malaria by using safe natural compounds. If you have LD you need this book.

2: We have seen some of these herbal recommendations help patients
Healing Lyme is easily the best discussion of Lymes disease and Lymes treatment, which I have found. Desperation Medicine by Ritchie Shoemaker, is an easier read, since it contains numerous case histories, but the well researched discussions of volumes of peer reviewed scientific herbal treatment research make this book more useful for treatment of chronic Lymes disease. In reality, over ninety percent of Lymes Disease sufferers will not learn they have Lymes, within the first 30 days of infection, when published research reveals antibiotic treatment is 90 percent effective.
The herbal Lymes treatments, described by Buhner are far more gentle and effective for the majority of Lymes sufferers than the conventional prescription antibiotics.
Florida Detox specializes in chemical dependency treatment but we do encounter patients suffering from Lymes Disease, Babesia and Ehrlichia, who have benefitted from some of the herbs described by Buhner.
We have found the Source Naturals Resveratrol especially effective for reducing MMP 9 to levels, below 300, and one of our Lymes patients has found the Rain Tree Cat's Claw to be very helpful. One of our rheumatism patients has also found Cat's Claw very helpful.
We have been able to use information in Healing Lyme to improve our liver detox treatment, especially elevated bilirubin treatment.
Healing Lyme is well organized by symptom and herb and extremely well documented, with published research. Some clinical results discussed in the research appear too fantastic to be true, but ordering the actual study or reading the Pubmed abstract reveals the results were published.
Although this book is titled Healing Lymes, it also contains useful treatments for Babesia, Bartonella and Ehrlichia.
We are very pleased with the improvements we have seen and measured in some of our patients, who used herbals recommended by Buhner. We are looking forward to incorporating more of the herbal treatments, recommended by Buhner, into our protocols.
Stephen Buhner is a genius. Healing Lyme would be a bargain at ten times the price, although it is difficult to read, due to the incredible volume of detailed biochemical and immunological information.

3: Fascinating-- a must-read
This was fascinating. I could not put it down. It is the most thorough explanation of Lyme. The remedies and preventions are almost completely herbal-based. This should be required reading for anyone in an area in which Lyme disease is a chance.

4: To J. Philbot: No Prednisone!
Having read your review I grew alarmed. Yes it likely is that you do have a rare allergic reaction, but if you have Lyme, taking prednisone is the wrong way to deal with that, or with a reaction to a symptom from taking something that you are trying to treat your Lyme with. No one should take steroids internally if they have Lyme Disease, unless it's an emergency. Steroids suppress the immune system, which can be dangerous with an infectious disease.
I say this not because I can stop you now, but so that anyone with Lyme who reads this would be aware in case they decide to take an internal steroid that they are aware of the dangers associated with it. Please google "Steroids and Lyme Disease" and get educated on it. From personal experience I can say it only makes things worse. I am not a doctor, but I have experienced side effects from this that are very indicative that I shouldn't have taken the steroids. I repeat, I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I'm strictly warning from what I've read and my own body's reaction to such drugs.
I have not read the book yet, but I felt that it was critical to post to warn people of the dangers of steroids when you have Lyme disease.. I have ordered the book though, it looks like a wealth of information, especially since it talks about TOA-free cat's claw so I'm giving it a tentative "3".
I just felt this issue was too important to wait on.
I'll return after I read the book!

5: excellent book!
Excellent book for those wanting to avoid or add to their antibiotics protocol. Very comprehensive. I can attest to the fact the herbs do in fact work.
