1: Disappointing but with original plot....
I read this author's "The Ex-Debutante" and enjoyed it very much so I thought that her back list books would be equally good. This one was a disappointment because of the clunky writing (VERY odd use of verbs), awkward sex scenes and repetitious thoughts by hero and heroine. On the other hand, the plot mechanism of the pregnant teen in two generations was interesting and rather unusual (perhaps because it is no longer considered such a shame??). I liked the secondary romance of the heroine's daughter better than the mother's...and the boyfriend was more sympathetic than the hero. After all, don't football players deal with injuries all the time???
There are better books out there about football players. For laughs plus romance, try the Susan Elizabeth Phillips series about the Chicago Stars. Those are well-written, witty and have very good character development.

2: Cute romantic story
Single mom Lacey uproots her teenage daughter Robin and heads to El Paso where a position as bar manager "Bobby's Place," a local sports bar owned by legendary Texas Lone Stars quarterback Bobby McIntyre, is waiting for her. She may have elaborated about her experience on her resume, and does not expect to run into the star owner, but a career side-lining injury brings Bobby back to El Paso and he's not real happy about the management change. But being the son of a single mother, he can't in conscience fire her. Despite efforts to stay away from each other, chemistry gets the best of them, and Lacey fears that Robin might repeat her mistakes when she falls hard for boyfriend Kyle.
Reminiscent of a Susan Elizabeth Phillips novel (Heaven, Texas in particular - even the character names are similar - Bobby Tom and Gracie), Lee does a great job moving the story along by creating entertaining and well developed secondary characters as well as a sweet sub-plot with teen Robin's romance. Lee has a latent for writing realistic dialogue and creating really charismatic characters that you wouldn't mind having as your own friends. Though a little predictable, it was a cute and romantic story.

3: Football, Bars and great love story
'Looking for Lacey' by Linda Francis Lee is a great love story based around an injured football star and his new bar manager. Lacey is single mother of a teenager daughter who has her own sweet love story within the main novel. If enjoy sports based romances this is perfect Sunday read.

4: ....WOW....worth 5 happy face (:D)
THOUGHTS:
I am so in love with this book, can i just say that i feel so GULITY in saying that i loved the daughter's story soooooo much even though she was 16 yrs old, i think the author did a great job touching on teenage love it was just right. Both mother and daughter were well written and thought out because to have written a story also about the 16 YEAR OLD daughter was excellent and unexpected and i wish the daughter's story could have contiuned on with another book with the daughter being older of course *smiling* ..THE BOOK WAS THAT GOOD. but can't forget the mother...JUST GET THE BOOK AND READ IT ITS WORTH THE BUY.....
BOOK DESCRIPTION:
When single mother Lacey Wright fudges her resume to get a job as business manager of a Texas sports bar owned by football quarterback Bobby McIntyre, she hopes not to have to contend with him. Lacey is prim, proper, and protective; Bobby is schmoozy, laissez-faire, and tolerant, and the two are like oil and water, squaring off from the beginning despite an undeniable attraction. Although Bobby wants to fire her even though his beloved sister has hired her, he doesn't, because as
she learns later, his own mother abandoned him, and he won't punish another mother who is trying to keep her child with her. Eventually he helps Lacey relax and rediscover the passionate woman within, while she helps him acknowledge all the painful feelings about his own abandonment. Their story is paralleled by the first-love story of Lacey's 16-year-old daughter, whom she desperately does not want to make the same mistakes and get pregnant like she did. Adept at Victorian historicals, Lee also excels in this contemporary

5: One of the best.
When I see a book by Linda, I dont have to read the back to buy it. I have not had a disapointment yet.
This book is right up there with the rest of them. I basically fell in love with Bobby after he had his flash back involving his mother. I have to say that it broke my heart and I balled like a baby for Bobby. Very touching. Although, I did not like how mean he was at times. I though it went just a little too far. Not enough to kill the story or my liking of Bobby though. I finished this book in one day and went over it again. It was good.
I liked Lacey's daughter, Robin and even her romance ws not so bad. It was a little wierd at first being that she is young. But it was a young romance and in the end just as touching.
So, why if I loved this book so much did I only give it 4 stars? Here is why. The whole thing about Lacey being an unwed mother and being shunned by people and towns was over done. Being that I am a single unwed mother myself, I know what kind of grief people give. And yes, some are more opinionated then others and some openly show disproval, it is not as bad as the book made it out to be. It almost sounded like it was from the 50's when being an unwed mother was forbidden. Also, at times Lacey was just unbelievably overprotective. It was silly the way she handled some of the situations with her daughter. Everyone makes mistakes and most people take the blame themselves, liek they should. I did not agree with Lacey punishing Robin for the mistakes she made almost 20 years ago. It was in NO way believable at all. And lastly, I did not like Bobby's name. Its silly I know, but I did not like the whole "Bobby Mac" It just reminded me of Micky D's Big Mac everytime I read it.
But those are all such little things, so thye do not make a difference in the overall story, except lacey with Robin, that kind of put a damper on things.
Overall, one of the best books and highly recommended. Enjoy!!
