1: Not breaking any new ground
Nice in your upper middles class, waspy sort of way. Not all of it to my liking but not unpleasant.

2: Great Ideas for Entertaining
This book is full of lovely photos of Carolyne's many different themed parties. It's full of inspiration to conjure up your own "one of a kind" party. If you a fan of Carolyne, you'll want to add this to your collection.

3: FABULOUS!
This is the creme de la creme! Beautiful photographs of great ideas. Worth every penny!

4: Carolyne is the Finest
Carolyne knows how to throw a party, live the good life & not sit on her laurels. I anxiously await her new book on Blue & White which is one of my passions. This one is so beautiful and I encourage you to read all of hers and also visit her website for "in between" when you need a fix. A delightful 10 year love affair.

5: Pop Out at Parties
To borrow from Lucy . . . "do you pop out at parties?" That's from the Vitameatavegamin routine . . . anyway. . .
Mrs. Roehm will so forever be remembered as a 1980's NY "designer" that no matter what she does, it comes across as fake and programmed.
I have two of her books and the photography and presentations are wonderful. There is a high level of creativity shown but I'm just not sure it's her own. Then again, if you have nothing really to do but sit around and think up gazillion ways to set a table with the umpteen million different napkins and cutlery sets you have. . . . But I'm getting snarky.
I have to hand it to CR. She's risen from the flames (Weatherstone, her Connecticut spread burned and she rebuilt it) to become a design maven (not to be confused with yours truly - Stylemaven).
It's kind of a hoot to have these books and just wonder at how out of touch such a person is. The photos of her are particularly staged.
Recipes (some) are OK. Try her out.
