1: Hardly a "Christian" Romance
I only got to chapter 3 and had to put the book away. I'm very disappointed that readers are giving this book such good reviews. I am seriously concerned about the content. The author described a male character having lustful imaginings about the woman who worked for him, and she described a scene where he was looking at parts of her body or wondering what she looked like underneath her clothes. What is going on with Christian authors? If I wanted to read secular romance, then that's what I would buy. I believe this kind of writing for a Christian audience is completely out of line. I'm extremely disappointed and will not recommend this book to anyone.

2: Courting Trouble
This is Deeanne Gist's third book, although it is not as amazing as her first two, Ii still felt that this story was well written and caught my attention. I was rather surprised at the amount of detail that she used when it came to relationships. In my opinion christen romance novels do not need that much description when it comes to passion. Nevertheless Mrs. Gist was still able to keep me up late at night reading this book to see what would happen next. I enjoyed that the ending is not typical but rather encouraging to all single women. I am looking forward to reading the next book about Essie to see what kind of trouble she gets into. This is a wonderful story to read over the summer on a hot day.

3: Waste of time and money
I was very disappointed in this book. If you are looking for a clean Christian romance, look elsewhere. Its descriptions of premarital passion skirt the edges of titillation, and while Deeanne tries to make this acceptable with a positive moral to the story, I would not recommend this book to anyone seeking to keep their mind and thoughts pure. There are so many other good books out there -- don't waste your time on this one.

4: Amazing!
Deeanne Gist does it again. I started reading this book expecting it to be a romantic comedy. But it ended up being something totally different and wonderful. I don't want to give anything away but I will say that Essie has to be the most real character I've met in a book. She wasn't perfect and guess what..she makes a huge mistake. And with God's grace she discovers some important things about herself and God. Like I said I don't want to give anything away but I totally recommend this book. I enjoyed this book so much I went out today and bought the second book in this series, Deep in the Heart of Trouble.

5: Good, but not spectacular.
COURTING TROUBLE centers around Essie Spreckelmeyer a thirty year-old woman tired of waiting for God to give her a husband. So, she decides to find one of her own. Essie is very unorthodox in her behavior which is her downfall when setting her sights on a man. After losing the man she schemed to hook, she finds herself attracted to a mysterious drifter. Allowing temptation to get the better of her, she soon finds herself once again alone, but this time her behavior could possibly ruin any chance she has of finding a husband.
COURTING TROUBLE is the third book I've read by Deeanne Gist. And though it wasn't my favorite, it was still a good read. I enjoyed the attachment Essie makes with Harley, an orphan that brings out her nurturing side, but I was a bit disappointed with the ending. When you follow a heroine the full length of a book and feel as if she is somehow left wanting, it makes it difficult to put down the book with a satisfying sigh
