1: Sam The Bear Is Back
Wonderful illustrations and a warm, loving story about a little bear and his mother on a cold & wintry night (you can almost hear the wind howl and the cold of the window panes from the pictures). Sam isn't feeling well and like most children doesn't want to take the medicine that will make him feel better. Lovely ending and makes you want to curl up by the fire with a good book and watch it snow. My personal favorite of the Sam books.

2: How to get the kids better
A fun story. Sam, a little bear, has a cough is nursing back to health and is trying to get him to take his medicine. She promises to let him stay awake and watch the snowfall if he has his medicine. I have three children and they all get a kick out of this book. They like to participate reading the book by imitating Sam's cough. None of them like taking their medicine and the two older ones can relate to the many bargains we've made with them just to get the spoonful of medicine swallowed.

3: A tender story about being taken care of when one needs it most
Don't You Feel Well, Sam? is an award-winning softcover children's picturebook, about a sick little bear plagued with coughing just as it's time for him to go to bed. When Mrs. Bear tries to give him medicine, the spoon is too big for his throat and Sam can't swallow it. But when Sam thinks about the coming snowfall, his excitement grows so high that he successfully gulps the syrupy medicine down. A tender story about being taken care of when one needs it most, and the special bond between mother and child, ideal for reading aloud to sick children or right before bedtime.

4: Don't, You Feel Well Sam?
I don't know about your children, but my hate medications. What a suprise when 2 years old Emi said "I will be brave like Sam" Since I got the book we don't struggle anymore with meds. What a relief.

5: A joyful, feel-good book!
Little Sam Bear just can't fall asleep; the cough in his throat is keeping him awake. When the love and cuddling Mrs. Bear shares don't work, she knows Sam needs medicine. Not wanting to take the cough medicine, Sam tries everything to convince his mom that he does not need it. "I don't have a cough!" Sam cries. "Taste bad," he explains. It's only when Mrs. Bear explains to Sam that after taking the medicine, they can go downstairs and wait for snow. Excited and brave, Sam swallows the syrup. All warm from the hot tea and cuddling, Sam is fast asleep when if finally snows.
The short tale of a sick cub and his loving mama is a wonderful book for all young readers. The way in which the author describes the setting is very inviting. Sam's red blanket is cozy, and his mama's belly is soft and wiggly as they snuggle in the big, purple chair while it snows. The pleasant setting will make any reader feel warm inside. The illustrations support this warm feeling. The soft colors bring out the best in both Sam and Mama Bear. This is a joyful, feel-good book!
