1: A must-pack guide
Of the three guidebooks I took to Rome, this one was the best. It offered the most scholarly information--art history, architectural information, etc--about each site, and the photos are very helpful. It didn't have as much practical information as my other guidebooks, but it was always the one I turned to when looking for ideas for cool things to see and do. Whenever we went out, I always took this book.

2: is not a hand book
as other EYEWITNESS TRAVEL GUIDE, Rome has all the informasion,but to much about History and photos .Would be useful more information in reference of metro, bus and how to get it an to go from one plase to other

3: Best for visiting the Rome's sites
We spent two weeks in Rome before moving on for 5 weeks on the Sorrento Penninsula and 4 weeks in Padua. This book, organized by section of the city is wonderful for assisting a traveller in determining what you want to see and how to figure out the order of your adventures like no other book. The walking maps, pictures of sites and descriptions are extremely helpful. Whether your visit is short or long you will find the book very of great assistance and easy to use. Buy another for advice on restaurants and hotels. This one is your cultural and adventure guide. It will put Rome in your pocket as you can tear out each section and carry it with you easily for each outing. The suggestions for restaurants are good too, just not as full or detailed as other books that focus on gastronomics. Highly recommended!

4: A MUST HAVE !!
THIS WAS A GREAT ASSET WHEN WE WENT TO ROME!!!!
In fact, every tourist had one. They sold the book there at every tourist vendor stand for way more then I paid here!
BUY IT.... The maps were awesome too!!

5: Pretty picture and good maps, but ZERO practical info
This is, as made clear by every review, a beautiful book. But on our trip to Italy, we found ourselves using Rick Steves WAY MORE. This book has great pictures and maps, and is good for planning, but it lacks the information Rick Steves gives such as where to park. We would have been completely lost without the Rick Steves book. I will give it this though: We found our hotel from this book and it turned out to be a very nice hotel. Also, this boo weighs a ton so carrying it around was kind of a pain. Get it a a keepsake, but not as a tool for while you are on your trip. Or use it only for the planning stages. If you are looking to get one guidebook, I would get Rick Steves, but I will probably buy both this one and a Rick Steves next time I go to Europe. Happy Travels!!!!!
