Customer Review:

1: Outstanding
I have to say I have always liked hooper, but never really been wowed by her before, merely entertained. This book, along with Amanda, changed my mind. Why she cant write like this more often is beyond me bc she got it all right here, from the plot, to the secondary characters to drawing out the questions so that you are left wondering about everything except little by little as she lets the reader in. I was gripped start to finish, especially by the main characters who have such palpable chemistry its unique!! great read, great book. Very impressive!!

2: Good Read
I have a list of favorite authors and Kay Hooper is one of them. She is always an easy, good read.

3: Family Secrets Can Be Deadly! Engrossing Novel
In Finding Laura, Laura Sutherland has a strange obsession about collecting mirrors. So one Saturday, she and her friend Cassidy go around to estate sales, one of them at the enormous Kilbourne family estate. Laura is instantly attracted to a mirror that is very old there, and buys it. Later in the day though, a strange thing happens. Peter Kilbourne comes up knocking at her apartment door wanting to buy this mirror back-at any price. But Laura refuses to give in to Peter. Then just hours later, he is murdered. The first suspect of course, is Laura.

From there Laura goes back to the grand house to convince Peter's family of her innocence so they can get the police off her back. But while there, she is strangely drawn in to the mansion, and Amelia, the old lady is taken with Laura, trying to learn all about her. She wants Laura to paint her portrait-and for what reason Laura cannot understand. She tries to convince the old woman that she is not really that kind of artist, but Amelia, powerful as she is, absolutely insists that she try it, and she'll pay her a hefty sum of course. She also offers Laura room and board there-and once Laura is attracted to Peter's older brother Daniel, she stays at the estate more and more.

But Daniel, just like Amelia is enigmatic, and Laura has trouble figuring out if he is to trust or not, and since he wasn't the favored child, if he had something to do with Peter's murder that night. But then there are a lot of other people that could be involved though in that house, and Laura grows more than a little frightened. Especially when another murder takes place shortly after Peter's death.

And Laura also traces the mirror to many lifetimes ago, and finds that it was handed down from many people with scandalous love affairs in the past. And she wonders why of course, did want to buy it back? The secret becomes uncovered slowly as you read the story. But hopefully Laura is not in danger of getting killed herself!

4: Family Secrets Can Turn Deadly in the End! A+++ Book!

5: Very much like the best of Barbara Michaels
Laura has been obsessed by mirrors her whole life, yet she is not vain. She doesn't look at herself in the mirror, but searches behind her for something she can't identify. She goes to the Killbourne estate for a sale and finds the mirror that she has been looking for her whole life. That evening, one of the Killbournes, Peter, shows up at her apartment wanting to buy the mirror. Peter is murdered that night, sweeping her into many more mysteries than those found in the mirror.

I would compare this book to some of the older Barbara Michaels books, romance and paranormal blended beautifully. The various characters were very realistic, and there is a twist at the end.
