1: holiday interpretation
The book is a visual delight but the best to me was the holiday spin given to a dark poem. The text is the Robert Frost poem....nothing else. It is the truly memorable illustrations that give new meaning to" miles to go before I sleep". The main character is a Santa like figure who cares for forest animals before heading out again to deliver to humans. Truly a lovely book suitable for any age.

2: Love the interpretations, hate the revamped illustrations
As another reviewer posted, this is a marvelous interpretation of Robert Frost's timeless poem. I read the original to my son and he now reads it to his son. I think it's a great child's introduction to the great works of Robert Frost. The problem is that the original edition had far better illustrations. I would recommend the original hardcover edition published in 1978. It appears to be available thru Amazon Partners. If you can find a clean addition, buy it, it's wonderful.

3: Robert Frost Stopping by a Wood on a Snowy Evening
Had seen and read this book while visiting in a third grade classroom. The poem, of course, was familiar but the illustration of this particular book were wonderful. Bought the book for my husband for Valentine's day and he is a fond of it as I am. We're looking forward to reading it to our youngest grandchild.

4: Why make a poem with mature themes into a children's book?
The poem "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening" is certainly open to any person's individual interpreation. However, by illustrating it and turning it into a children's book, one is imposing a rather 'childish' interpretation on a poem which can have a deeper meaning. Perhaps there is some literature that should be left for kids to explore when they are older instead of trying to "dumb down" everything and hence lose its impact and meaning.
