Customer Review:

1: Too simple statistics
This book is a decent review of different chart patterns from a data point of view. Actual stock market data is used to understand the validity of standard chart patterns. I like that the author uses statistics, but why on earth doesn't he use standard deviation and significance tests to understand which patterns or volume trends are significant? That would have been a good way to sift through the copious amount of data in the book. It is very unfair against the reader to just dump all the data in the text. Having said this, the book contains some useful data if you are interested in chart patterns, but it requires a lot of extra study (something the author could have done for you, the reader).

The book is far too long. For each patterns the author describes a fictitious trade that somebody made. That imaginary somebody is even given a name and profession; different in each chapter. These 75 pages or so could have been cut out easily. And I'm sure more cuts could have been made.

With these changes the book could have been very good.

2: Yikes!
Ok, considering i have not spent that much time reading this book, mainly because it creates nausium with all the statistical talk, i think its a pretty good book. Just know that its not a story or interviews or anything like that. Lots of percentages. The volume i bought actually has a reddish cover, i think its slightly newer. Also, i happened to switch over to learning how to trade using bar charts, i like it much better. The candles....work, but i hate how i see all the different candle signs i have learned all over the place!! And i think all the candle patterns are seen just as easy with the good ole HLCO bars. I recommend Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques by Steve Nison if you want to learn about a bunch of candle signs/patterns...its an awesome book that i bought based on recommendations of two pro traders i follow. Good luck, never quit!!

3: Chart Patterns
This book is fine, it was just a bit too technical for me, but it is not the fault of the book but my interest in the subject matter. I found it for myself to be too difficult to digest. Again, it has nothing to do with the message, it was not what I needed and I don't think I will use it a lot. I believe you need to know a lot more about the technical analysis than I do, although I hve a finance background.

4: pattens
very well researcher and very useful book for any body who want to punt on the market.

5: encyclepedia of chart patterns
Its just what its supposed to be a reference book . When it comes to trading its not that big a help. I am
learning that to make money its money managment and stop loss that makes the difference.
