5: Great romantic suspense anthology
This work of fiction is a tremendous hybrid that takes short story elements, but places them in an anthology that reads more like a series containing four romance novellas all tied together in one book. Each author has held up their end, turning this into a must read for contemporary romance fans. A decade has passed since that fatal Christmas Eve in 1977, when four young girls realize that their mother has just committed suicide. The oldest sister Lauren still struggles with the event that ended her childhood. She goes to Hawaii to try to finally come to grips with her haunting past where she meets Peter, who is being stalked by an unidentified female killer. They fall in love, however she needs to overcome her past demons and he must really believe that she is not the Black Widow planning to murder him. The second oldest sibling Ardath is obsessed with author Ethan Jameson, her deceased mother's lover and the person she holds responsible for her mother's death. She plans to kill him with the same gun her mother used on herself. However, when she meets him, they form an instant, mutual attraction to one another. Successful lawyer Dinah has made a killer's hit list. The police are convinced Adam Jacobs is her assailant, but his brother Jake knows otherwise that Adam's ex-wife is the killer. As Jake holds Dinah prisoner to protect her, they begin to fall in love with one another. However, Dinah believes that Jake is holding her until his sibling arrives. The baby of the family Yardley is a successful real estate agent. She finds herself both very attracted and wary of builder Kyle Baker.
