1: Do As I Say, Not As I Do
Frankly, I don't know if this diet works or not? But one thing is obvious--the author clearly needs to lose weight. He is a frequent commentator on the Fox News Channel and is visibly overweight (and not just a little) and does not look healthy to me. I say this not to be unkind but to illustrate a point. So many self-proclaimed "experts" claim to have the secrets to a healthier, wealthier or happier life but, in reality, just want to sell their programs. I say "put your money where your mouth is!" I will not buy a book/program about financial freedom and wealth building unless the author has demonstrated financial success. Likewise, I will only buy a book about weight loss and/or health and fitness from someone who is, in fact, healthy and fit. It's all about CREDIBILITY. It reminds me of lyrics from the the 1971 song, "Sunshine" by Jonathan Edwards: "...he can't even run his own life, I'll be damned if he'll run mine..."

2: Dr Manny
I am considering getting this book when I can find a cheap used copy. I like Latino food a lot along with other styles, so this would be a nice book to have. One observation though. Dr Manny I like your input on TV, but you are not the best poster child for a diet book! He could lose some weight himself! LOL.

3: IT REALLY WORKS
First of all I have to admit that we cheated a little. I borrowed this book from an acquaintance a couple of months ago. My wife and I were looking to shed some of the unwelcome weight you tend to put on when you are content with life, but your clothes don't fit so well. Once we saw the pounds start to come off, we had to buy our own copy. THIS DIET REALLY WORKS! In just nine weeks, we have lost a combined total of 42.75 lbs; and all this without having to give up on flavor. The seven power foods do in fact give you energy and the desire to go outside and move, whether we walk, jog, play basketball, tennis, or just go rollerblading, we've reconnected with one another and are truly enjoying life again. With the price of gas, who can afford new clothes? All we know for sure is that after trying this diet we no longer wanted to just sit around and watch TV!!! Thank you Dr. Manny, if you keep writing 'em, we'll keep buying 'em.

4: A BIG LIE!
This is a BIG lie!! It disgusts me to know that Dr. Alvarez and his personal assistant Haydee Mato aren't truthful as to why or how they lost weight AND where they got most of the diet/ recipe ideas from! Hackensack University Medical Center (where they both work at) offers all their employees a Weight Watchers discount and they used it!! Please be honest to the public and stop the lies....STOP trying to make money in this dishonest way and using family and friends to put FALSE reviews!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

5: Why Dish On Low-Carb Diets With Your New Book, Dr. Manny?
With the sudden influx of the Latin culture in the United States over the past couple of decades, this has produced a heavy influence on the kinds of foods that have entered into the category of healthy. Things like avocados, cinnamon, and garlic are now widely considered superfoods because of their positive benefits to our health and these came into prevalence because of Latinos. Noted Fox News health correspondent and OB/GYN Dr. Manny Alvarez introduces many of these foods to the American people with this book and uses it as a springboard for sharing his beliefs about various other diets, including Atkins, South Beach, and The Zone, among other low-carb ones. It shouldn't be too surprising to learn he's not very fond of the low-carb lifestyle on the grounds that the jury is still out about the long-term impact of this way of eating along with the supposed health side effects, high consumption of saturated fats, and the restrictive nature of the diet. Ho-hum--we've heard all this before, Dr. Alvarez. And yet those of us who are livin' la vida low-carb are still here going strong. Even still, mixing in these seven Latin powerfoods into your diet (ironically, most of which are VERY low in carbs, by the way) could be the change you need to get your diet moving in the right direction.
