1: A fun and entertaining read!
Natalie Meadow Szarvas has just been caught breaking and entering in what she thought was her grandfather's South Carolina estate. Instead she runs into the new owner, Devlin Fitzwilliam and he's demanding to know who she is and what she is doing. Thinking fast, she tells him she has amnesia and doesn't know why she's in his living room. Thinking even quicker, Devlin counters with the fact that she's his long lost wife and he's so happy she's finally come home. Poor Meadow is horrified. She can't tell him the truth, he'll throw her in jail and if she stays, she knows she's never going to want to leave. Especially with Devlin constantly trying to jar her memory with descriptions of their first meeting in Majorca, in exquisite detail. They play a sort of cat and mouse game, each refusing to tell the other their ulterior motives, while both falling hard in love. Meadow has her reasons for trying to find the painting and Devlin has his reasons for flaunting her about town as his wife. Amidst all the games, is a person who is becoming increasingly aggressive in his or her attempts to get to that painting. When that determination hurts Meadow, Devlin realizes he no longer cares about finding out her secrets but only ensuring her safety. Forced to play the dutiful wife, she continues searching for the painting never knowing that what she's looking for is worth killing for and that someone is determined to possess it.
Meadow was one of the funnest character's I've read about in a long time. Her natural charm and effervescence brings everyone to their knees, including her stern grandfather and his cronies, her stuffy mother in law and all the employees around the estate that Devlin is turning into a five star hotel. She's not all sweetness though. She may come across as flaky and flighty due to her tempermental artistic nature but she doesn't let Devlin or anyone else walk all over her. She stands up to her grandfather's autocratic ways and gets her mother in law to loosen up and acknowledge what's missing in her life. She teases Devlin and gets him to rethink his own cold, domineering ways. Devlin has had a pretty rotten childhood and it's shaped him into the man he is today but with Meadow by his side, he hopes to change that. He just needs to convince her to stay.
There are some cons in this story. It's implausible to say the least and it's corny. The character development of Meadow was at first, inconsistent. When she became a wild bohemian, chasing after the moonlight, call me crazy but I didn't see it coming. But once I did, I loved it. There are a lot of people running around this book, too. I couldn't keep the cronies straight and I frankly forgot about Meadow's parents and the head security guy. But all in all I loved this book.
Christina Dodd's Tongue in Chic is exactly that. Tongue in cheek. It's a fun romp through the stuffy, hallowed halls of South Carolina and has some of the funnest, most eclectic group of characters I've read about in a long time. It was a fun entertaining read and right after I finished it, I wanted to read it again! I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read some more of her Fortune Hunters series.

2: Kind of silly
The story was way to far fetched, borderline ridiculous. I didn't even finish it. I had liked some of this authors other books. Not this one.

3: A Great Read
I thought this book was wonderful. It has everything that a book needs to keep your interest. It makes your heart swoon and raises your sexual tension to fever level.
I've read this book three times already just in the span of a few days. I love the two main characters they have chemistry going from the first chapter and it never ends. Both the romance and mystery plots of the story are very well constructed and thought out.
What makes Tongue in Chic special are the main characters Meadow and Devlin, but the supporting players really add to the story as well. However, it's the humor, passion and sweetness that occurs between Meadow and Devlin that makes this a story that can be read over and over again.
Tongue and Chic invokes the use of the children's book The Secret Garden from the name of Devlin's hotel, through a very hot sex scene that takes place in such a garden. More importantly the themes of unconditional love and finding joy in life are the true messages of the Secret Garden and also in Tongue in Chic.

4: Huh?
Based on the title, I was expecting something completely different, and didn't get it. The whole premise of this book (girl breaks into billionaire's mansion/hotel, gets caught by him, she claims amnesia, he claims she's his runaway wife) was ridiculous. Maybe it would have worked in a historical novel, but not in a contemporary one. And how come Meadow wasn't aware that the mansion had changed owners over a year ago? (Judith obviously knew...)
Which brings me to the fact that there were holes throughout this book, and so many editing issues that I lost count. And lastly, the premise that a sweet, innocent, naive, carefree, bohemian yet clueless 22-year old (who is also a famous but unknown glass artist, huh?) can captivate a hard-edged, cynical billionaire in this day and age just doesn't work for me. Frankly, I think Ms. Dodd should stick to historicals --- the formula she uses here works much better in that genre.

5: meadow is a saucy minx
I enjoyed the banter and humor of this book. Meadow is such a down to earth person she is hard not to fall in love with. I think she charms the town. Meadow is a saucy minx.
Devlin what can I say about a guy I think falls Meadow right from the beginning.
