1: A "fair" beginning to a wonderful series
The Jewelled Men series is in my opinion Veryan's best, and I only wished that it had started better. It is a decent book, but when compared to the other books in this series, Time's Fool doesn't stand a chance. Gideon Rossiter evokes sympathy, but Naomi's snobbish ways are nothing but plain irritating. Of particular interest is the introduction of several memorable characters, including witty and bright Gwendolyn Rossiter, the lovely and sweet but scorned Katrina Falcon, the likeable and proverb-quoting Jamie Morris, and the haughty and handsome (and I think Veryan's best written character EVER) August Falcon. All of these characters pop up throughout the series, and one should read this book to find out where they come from and where they are going (plot-wise). Read this book, but spend more time cherishing the other books in the Jewelled Men series.
