1: Great Read for Chronic Pain Patients
I have read Pain Free for Life by Dr. Scott Brady. It has been the best reading I have ever done regarding chronic pain. I recommend it highly due to the help and understanding I have received from it. I will be reading it again and referring to it constantly.

2: Exactly what I was looking for
I am not quite through the book but finally someone understands the pain I have been experiencing. I am looking forward to applying this to my life. Very well written.

3: Very helpful book
I purchased this book for my husband who has chronic lower back pain. I am happy to report that just after reading the book, he has experienced a significant reduction in back pain and most days he has no pain. It has truly been a blessing from God and a book that we will be passing on to other family members. If you are a people-pleaser, a perfectionist, or both, you need this book.

4: Simply Amazing
Pain Free for Life?? How could it be???? That's what I thought when I saw the title, in fact I bought the book and then doubted why I did it. Over a year went by while I finished an MBA, the entire time I promised myself that I would read a book "for no grade" when I finished. I read a couple that family and friends gave me and then came to "Pain Free for Life" and finished it in a few days.
The book has some of the author's personal information in the first sections that I almost skipped. But sticking to my promise I read it all and found that much of what he had gone through had happened to me too. Have you ever had a doctor that said, "Face it, you might just have to live with the pain for the rest of your life"? Well Dr. Brady did and I did too; so he had my attention. Then he mentioned how he had taken medications for pain that did nothing but mask the pain; I did that too!!
An then he said that he was free from the medications with NO PAIN! He had me hooked; I had to finish the book. I read through the conclusion, went back and journaled for two days and was free from pain. If you don't believe it can happen buy the book and give it a shot.
But truly do it, don't go into it waiting for the doctor to be wrong or to try and prove my review wrong; give yourself a chance. What do you have to lose, if the pain doesn't go away your in the same spot as you started.
It worked for me!!!

5: Becoming pain free
While being simplistic and over the top at times, his message is a good one. I would recommend this book to most people. It has helped me manage a lot of my pain and I am only a few weeks into the program. The basic idea of journaling through emotions is so simple it is profound. I can't think of a single person who would not benefit from this method of inner reflection. I've only experienced growth and a developing self-awareness from this insightful approach to health. It makes sense- we can develop ulcers from worrying, migraines from stress- why not chronic pain from never dealing with our emotions?
The only concerns I have are in Brady's 'yelling' at the unconscious. I don't think that barreling over your interior life after ignoring it for so long is going to make for a long-term healthy balance between emotions and will. There are better ways to handling the blocks that one comes to in this program.
