1: Fairy Precious
A spunky, diminutive fairy named Tiki is happily flying around with her best friend, Wijic the flower elf, when she accidentally brushes up against a human's toe. Uh-oh. You see, fairies are all around us all of the time, but they remain invisible until they touch us. Once Jan, the owner of the toe upon which Tiki sits, gets over the shock of seeing a fairy, she becomes rather curious, and the two become fast friends.

Jan's life has made her a very compassionate woman. She was a child actress, a real rising star, until she had an accident on a television set which led to a lengthy hospitalization and left Jan with a limp. Now all grown up and married to a doctor she loves, she is terribly sad because she is childless.

With her bright pink hair, furry purple wings, and stubborn streak, Tiki is a force to be reckoned with. She can change her clothes just by picturing an outfit and running her hands down her sides, and she often wears jeans even though they're against the fairy dress code. Jan delights in Tiki's antics and stories.

After Jan confides in Tiki that she wants to have a child more than anything, the daring little fairy decides she's going to help her human friend, no matter what it takes. To make Jan's wish come true, Tiki saves up her magic and defies the Fairy Queen, even if it means suffering from the wrath of the cruel Queen. Jan gives birth to a precious daughter, Bindi, a happy baby who grows into a delightful little girl. Though cared for deeply by her parents and a pink-haired pixie, Bindi may not be safe from the temptations and traps set up by the Fairy Queen.

I strongly, strongly recommend this book, especially to moms looking for something they can share with their daughters, either one-on-one or as part of a Mother-Daughter Book Club. This is the perfect gift for little girls around age 8. I give it to people of all ages who love stories with fairies. Tiki and Tinker Bell are my all-time favorite fictional fairies.

2: I believe in fairies!
This has been a favorite book of mine for I don't know how many years. I read it at as a very young child and was immediately swept up in the incredible fantasy that gives a nod to traditional fairy mythology while blending in Ms. Banks' own imagination. The result is an incredible story that can be enjoyed by both adults and kids--being that one of the main characters is an adult.

Besides the sheer, delicious rush into the world of fairies we have a heartbreaking and altogether human story of a family that loves each other no matter what. This is the story that gives its book its heart while the fairy story gives it adventure and passion.

Indeed, every little girl should read this, as has been said in another review. Heck, anyone who secretly believes in fairies should.

3: Great book for little girls!
This was my first book I read when I was 7 years old. LOVED it and read it 3 more times after that. I just picked it up again and fell in love with it again. Perfect book for a child who has a passion for reading and fantasy. Easy to read and understand!

4: Great creepy fun for elementary
We read "Indian in the Cupboard" at school, Lynne Reid Banks' most famous book, and I just wasn't that enthralled. The Fairy Rebel, however, is another story completely. I distinctly recall getting delicious shivers of fear out of this book!

Though the book certainly has whimsical elements, its most remarkable feature is the amount of darkness and danger that it is willing to include, which raises the stakes far past that of most children's books while remaining an extremely enjoyable read. Usually, children's books have a very distinct "safety zone" beyond which the characters do not venture. Here, they pass all restrictions while at the same time not betraying the unspoken agreement between the author and reader that the book must have a satisfying ending.

This was one of the creepiest stories I read as a small girl, and also one of the best. I highly recommend it.

5: Finally found this book after years of searching!
I read this book more than once when I was in elementary school. Over the years, I lost the title and have been searching everywhere for it. I'm so excited to see it's reprinted and still out there for kids to read. I'm also surprised to find out it's by one of my favorite childhood authors. I loved "The Indian in the Cupboard" as well. I would recommend this to any child, or adult, who loves fantasy. There are some parts that are a little scary if I remember correctly though. I still have to reread it : )
