1: Not falling for it again...
Oh no! I'm not falling for this again. This book was okay, but no way near 4 or 5 stars. I don't understand how Rio can have his breed mate betray him so thoroughly in the previous book, and then fall madly in love with another woman so quickly. And how many of you ladies would actually go traipsing off into the woods, in a foreign country, after a figment of your imagination? The love story between these characters was not believable. I was left feeling a little cold with this one. There are a great deal of pros in the story, but I could not get past the fact that Rio and Dylan "fell" in love so quickly. Is it me, or is the breed mate mark a quick fix for developing characters and plot? I'm not falling for it again. Public Library here I come.

2: Rio!!!!
I loved this man in the first book and felt his pain and betrayal. To see all of that work through in his book was so rewarding, entertaining and satisfying.
Ms Adrian is a wonderful storyteller and I adore this series.

3: 3 1/2 stars for Rio
This is the book I enjoyed less in the series, in part because I think it was a little early for Rio's HEA.
Rio is the cavern of the Ancient to destroy it, but he plans to kill himself. There he meets Dylan, a reporter who is travelling with some friends of her mother instead of her, because her mum is ill. Dylan takes photos and sends them to her boss, starting problems.
The development of the Ancients plot is very interesting, but the relationship between Rio and Dylan didn't satisfy me. Although they make a good couple, it was very sudden. They didn't touch me as the previous couples. Also, the apparition of Eva in form of a ghost was a little unnerving.
There is also something that bothered me a little. Rio sometimes uses Spanish words or phrases, and some of them were incorrect. It's not something important to the story, but it's annoying when you know the language. It would have been better to have someone knowledgeable in Spanish check on them before publishing.

4: Follow Up Does NOT Disappoint True Paranormal Romance Fans
When I am in the mood for a paranormal romance, especially one featuring vampires, I prefer ones with an alpha male figure as the protagonist. And while Lara Adrian's vampires are not as "alpha" as say J. R. Ward's vampires -- they have a softer side which is also endearing and fits the plots of her stories.
If you have been following the series, this book is about Rio who is the vampire who got "jacked up" in the explosion in a previous novel.
The story is basically about him finding a reason to live and move on with his life, forgive the sins of the past, and find love again. I think it's the find love again part that was a hard sell for me at first.
I like my vamps to be one-woman guys. Either their soulmate or die! So when Rio found a new love interest in this book (which of course I knew it would be) I wanted to see how the author would play it out.
She did a good job. And I actually found this book to be a great read - and more importantly it delivered just what I expected from the author (unlike Ward's Phury novel). A great paranormal romance with a great continuing (soap opera style) subplot.
If you are new to the series, start from the beginning. But if you have been reading the series and you were just double-checking to see if you should even bother with this title - please do!

5: RIO'S STORY, WOW!
Couldn't have asked for a better story. I have loved this whole series and was thrilled that Rio's story was out. Dylan was a great character and really held her own in this story. And Rio was . . . well, just Rio. Struggling to adjust after almost being killed, being scarred for life, and having been betrayed by a woman he had loved. To find someone like Dylan was just perfect for him. I'm not sure why some of the people think Dylan wasn't very smart. Terrific story. Can't wait for the next one.
