Customer Review:

1: Promising story, but...
This could be such a wonderful book. Heroes that met four years ago, were attracted to each other but were unable to establish a relationship. A tortured hero. A new chance four years later. A chance that is wasted in such a bad way. In the end, this is a story about two people who can't be together for five minutes without fighting, insulting and hurting each other. And all the time they are supposed to love each other. In words, but not in actions. They can't even be civil to each other. The story dragged on with no action and endless reflections. It was so boring I had to skip pages in order to finish it. Even in the end, when the misunderstandings were already resolved, they were still fighting. I just don't know how these two could possibly live together happily.

2: Worst Balogh book ever
I wish I had read the other reviews before purchasing. I have been a big Balogh fan for some time and never considered that I should seek other opinions before purchasing one of her books.

However this book was painful to read. The two main characters don't like each other. They fight through the whole book. It was not chemistry or friction it appeared to be true dislike. The only way the author can get the two together is to compromise the Heroine. That works, if the couple like each other. Here they do not.

This is the last Balogh book I have read, and honestly I am a little afraid to try any of her other new books.

3: the worst of Balogh
I like Mary Balogh books, but this really was a dissapointment, the story goes nowhere, the characters predictable.. I couldn't believe it was the same author of some many great novels.

4: Great ending to a trilogy
Having enjoyed the fist two books in this trilogy, I was so glad the third book was just as enjoyable. "Madeline's" story is just as well written as Mary Balogh's previous novels. She re-introduces us to the characters from the earlier books, in so smooth a way that we feel like we are re-visiting the family homestead (and London), watching the events unfold.
Every character has their own life changes or maturing to do, but its up to the reader to tell you how it all turns out. I won't.
A thoroughly enjoyable book.

5: Why did I make myself finish this book???
Apparently, I have a masochistic side. This was dreadful. I guess I felt obligated to finish it because I had spent so much time trying to piece the storyline and multiple characters together. I didn't realize that this was part of a series, and it was incredibly difficult to keep up with everyone. However, I could have gotten past that - had the story been worth it...but, these two characters were simply miserable! Page after page of their bickering, fighting, misunderstandings - it was painful. Don't waste your time.
