1: Masquerade
This is the fourth book in the Ulysses Moore series, and is a short, easy read for the age group 8-12. The other books in the series are:
The Door To Time (Ulysses Moore)
Long-lost Map (Ulysses Moore Book)
House Of Mirrors (Ulysses Moore Book)
The Isle of Masks continues right after book three, and this time the three young adventurers are heading off to eighteenth century Venice to try to find Peter Dedalus, clock-maker and inventor extraordinaire. Helping them are Nestor, the caretaker of Argo Manor, Fred Naptime the archivist and Leonard Minaxo, the lighthouse keeper.
Setting sail on the magical ship Metis, they travel back in time, arriving in Venice as planned, only to be tricked by an unscrupulous duo, forcing the group to split up. One group meets some old friends of Ulysses and Penelope Moore, who join them in their search for Dedalus, but who also have secrets of their own.
Also on the trail is Oblivia Newton, who has hired the mysterious Count Ashes to help track down her prey, and Oblivia is the one person who knows Dedalus' Achilles heel.
A cliffhanger ending leads to the next book, and not even the door to time can tell us when that will be coming out. This book can be read on its own, but with so many adventures in the first three books, why risk missing anything?
