1: Poems to Read to the Very Young
I loved this book when I received a copy for my now 25 year old. I wanted this copy for his new baby daughter.
It is nice, and sturdy, so that a child can handle it.
It is not an exact duplicate of the old edition, and some of my favorite poems and illustrations by Elouise Wilkins were missing.
I don't know the reason for editing the original, but my son and I know the old one from memory.
The baby and her Mom don't know the difference, and I managed to pull off a trade and get my old book back!

2: An oasis for parent and child!
The gentle rhythms of soothing poetry and the delicate art of Eloise Wilkin combine to make this one of my alltime favorite books for babies and young children. It is an oasis of beautiful peace for the parent and the child.

3: poems for children
My children grew up with this book and we still know many of the poems by by heart! When I misplaced it I went on line to get a new one and while doing so bought several copies to keep on hand for gifts.

4: Great Addition!
This book is full of beautiful pictures with fun and educational poems. Your child will love this. It is slightly geared toward girls but perfect addition to any library.

5: A must-have for any parent's library
I grew up with these poems; it's the first book I ever read by myself. The poems are truly beautiful and catchy. Sometimes I'll find myself mumbling the bathtime poems as I turn the shower on or the woolly blanket poem when curled up on the couch. I was ecstatic when I saw that they had re-released this book. My family's original copy was so well-read the pages were falling out. However, when we compared the books side to side we discovered that there were quite a few poems missing from the new edition! Fuzzy Wuzzy, New Shoes, and quite a few others were absent. I'm not sure whether they couldn't get the rights to them, or if they thought that the book would be too large because it's a hardboard, but it was truly a disappointment. I'm still glad for the copy and I look forward to sharing the poems with my future children, but I'll always have a nagging feeling, knowing that there's many wonderful poems omitted. Regardless, the book is beautifully illustrated and the poems are quite pleasing. A definite must-have for any parent or parent-to-be.
