1: P.S., Inc.
This was the first novel that I have read by Ms. Alers and it was definitely worth the money. I read it in a weekend...yes, two days. It was such a good read, I didn't want to put it down. It was not an erotic read, per say, but more of a romantic read and yes, I am a romantic at heart. The three "exotic" jewels consisted of Alana (magazine editor), Faye (ad exec), and Ilene (supermodel). Enid, the owner of Pleasure Seekers, Inc. was also an exotic jewel in her own right. Enid provided a fantasy/money making environment for Alana, Ilene, and Faye. Faye, who would have never met Bart Houghton were if not for Enid's evasdropping at her and Alana's dinner date, blossomed into such a well rounded uninhibited individual in this book. She had never dated outside of her race until she met Bart. For both, it was love at first sight. Alana, waiting on her prince charming, or so she thought, found out that he wasn't her prince charming after all and that angels come into your life when you least expect it. She was determined to marry a man that didn't mean himself any good, let alone her. She realized, through a gift, what true love really means and that she loved herself and was okay with being who she was. Ilene was ready to also venture into new endeavors when she signed on for P.S., Inc. What she didn't realize was that she was about to embark on a life changing experience. Ilene grew up poor, fast, and hard and was determined to not ever go back to that way of living. Her supermodel stardom had somewhat dwindled, but she was a favorite at P.S. Unbeknownst to Ilene, one fateful weekend in Pine Cay would change her life forever. In it, she would find what she so desired. These three women were a perfect example of what happens when pleasure seekers find true love and when the old saying, "Being in the right place at the right time" is into play. Enid also lets down her guard and finds true love. I definitely recommend this book! Ms. Alers, you did good. I will be looking for other books by you.

2: R.a.w.sister Reader
This was my first Rochelle Aler read. It was a good summer read and very well written although the ending was very predictable. I'm not really one for romance stories but I enjoyed Ms. Alers' style. In the begining it may get a little slow at points but fret not, it picks up rather quickly and you will stay hooked until the end. You will have to know what happens in the end. I'll be reading some more romance from Ms. Alers.

3: A must read!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a fabulous novel. Worth every penny. A must read for anyone who likes their romance larger than life. I just love me some Bart and Fay!

4: the first time I ever chucked a book into the trash
The library had this book on their 'giveaway shelf' so I picked it up looking for a fun, breezy read. I hadn't expected an in-depth character analysis or a mind blowing plot but COME ON! The characters were next to non-existent. Most professional women who aren't living from paycheck to paycheck, I assume, would pause before becoming an 'escort'. But not these two main characters. Nope. I need money (to get brother out of jail of course- the main escort had a heart of gold of course) let me sell myself as an escort. No hesitation, ifs and or buts - that transition happens within five pages!
Before 120 pages the women have become escorts, but oh no, there are over 400 pages to go - can't wait to see the drama that follows - which wasn't much. A world driven totally by sex and money written by Alers is a perfunctory, boring experience.
The rest - from the settings, to the dialogue, to the characters' descriptions was all trite - words rehased from better descriptions in better fictitious novels. (FYI - there are more words than sable, burnished, bronze, and caramel to describe people of color's complexions).
And considering that the entire novel was about high end escort service, I didn't really learn ANYTHING a fifth grader couldn't have imagined about that world.
So, yeah. After I turned the last page, I read how the author is an acclaimed award winning best seller, and I laughed. Than I tossed the book into the garbage can. Watching the book disappear into the trash was the most satisfaction that I had gotten out of it.

5: Neva would've thought it...
I couldn't believe that I fell in love with Bart just like Faye did. He is the kind of man that makes you believe that love definately does come in all shades. I picked up this book and couldn't put it down, wondering what was going to happen next for Bart and Faye. I am now on a hunt for each and everyone of Rochelle Alers books. Hopefully I can read them all by the summer and just revelle in the love that she writes about in her novels.
