1: Yum!
Zack Carson has been working on a ranch for a few years when its owner dies and it is inherited by a niece that has not seen the ranch since she was sixteen years old. He is ready to pack up and move on as soon as she arrives, but she asks him to stay and for some reason he can't say no to the woman.
Caitlin Jackson knows nothing about ranching and when she arrives in Wyoming has no idea why her uncle left her the family ranch she visited once when she was a child, sixteen years ago. She has plans to use the summer to sell the ranch and use the money to be set for life.
Some say the best laid plans never work, and both Zack and Caitlin's plans don't seem to work. Both want what is best for the ranch, and neither realize it, but their growing attraction will hold them spellbound until they fall in love. Caitlin is responsible for her sixteen year old brother, who is deaf. When her brother suggests opening a camp on the ranch for deaf teens to learn about ranching, she shoots down the idea in her mind. Zack is also opposed to turning the ranch into a camp, until he realizes how much it means to Caitlin and Brandon.
Barbara McMahon takes a simple love story - employer falls for the employee and makes it into a tale filled with romance, heartache and love. While the basis for this novel may be timeless, the issues both Caitlin and Zack face are enough to give this novel the feeling it has never been done before. These two characters rock, and will leave readers wanting more from the ranch and its occupants.
