A great read! Curt believes Peta is making the move on his brother-in-law. So in order to keep his sister happy, he blackmails Peta into pretending to be his lover so the brother-in-law will get the message and go back to Curt's sister. The deal is that Peta must act all lovey dovey with Curt or else he'll kick her off of the land she's leasing and dump her, basically into the street. You've heard it all before, she's poor and he's -surprise!- rich. Well things don't work out exactly as they planned when Curt takes Peta to the city and spruces her up. Before you know it they really aren't 'acting' and thats when things get out of hand.
I loved both of these characters. Peta and Curt are fabulous! Constantly setting sparks off of each other. He thinks she is a gold digger for going after his brother-in-law and she thinks he's an arrogant control freak who only thinks of himself. The best part of the book was that most of the time the reader has no idea what Curt is thinking, rather we see his actions. The anticipation for the ending was killing me! I was GLUED to the last fifty pages. Its that good!
I usually read mainstream romance novels from publishers like Avon, St. Martins Press etc. , but every now and then I reach for something different like a Harlequin book. Because frankly Harlequin gets a bad rap. Now only if the people at harlequin are reading this and stop putting words like 'mistress' and 'virgin' on every single cover!
