1: Another one-time read. Not a keeper
From the back cover:
A convenient Christmas Proposal!
Trisha August is determined to be independent and will do anything--well, almost anything--for enough money to set up her own business. She can't believe her luck when hotshot Lassiter Dragan promises to give her a loan...
But there's a catch--she has to become his temporary "wife" for the Christmas holidays!
Lassiter has sworn that he'll never make himself vulnerable through love. So a convenient, temporary wife seems the perfect solution to enhance his business image. Only, living as man and wife is harder than either of them expects. Lassiter is appalled to discover he's falling in love with his wife!
And my review:
I love marriage of convenience stories, as well as Christmas romance, so I snapped this book up when I found it at a thrift store. It was an okay read, but nothing special. And I found Trisha to be quite annoying a lot of the time. If she really was so desperate, she shouldn't have been mouthing off to her benefactor. I often thought that the hero might be tempted to give his "wife" a time-out in the corner. (Ha ha!)
Still, it was worth finishing, just not keeping, hence the three star rating.

2: Darling story!
I've never read a Roszel book before, but this one assures that I'll look for more! First, I love marriages of convenience, so this was right up my alley. If you're like me, you'll love it, too. Plus, I'm an animal lover, and this story had some sweet scenes with rescued doggies. The hero was a 'bigger than life' guy, wealthy and powerful and the heroine was a spunky woman trying her best to carve out a career for herself, working hard. I really could pull for her, being one of those myself. And what a great fantasy, to find a guy who's got everything, could have any woman, but finds this woman attractive enough to go way out of his way to hep her, though it benefits him, too. And do those sparks fly! Loved it.

3: Brooding Hero and Flighty Heroine

::::::::: This book really is 3.5 stars -- not quite 4, but not bad enough to be 3. The romance seems to be very lust-driven. I found Trisha a little annoying at times because of what I saw as her petulant outbursts. (If she needs the money badly enough to agree to this crazy scheme, she shouldn't jeopardize it by insulting the man at what seems to be every chance she gets, should she?) Lassiter is pretty hot stuff, and Roszel creates him in the brooding, hard-to-read, larger-than-life mold. I got this at the library, and I guess it was worth the time to read, but I'll neither seek it out to purchase on my own nor specifically seek out Roszel's future books.::::::::::
