1: The best book in the series
They saved the best for last. I kinda of liked this book better than the other ones I have read from this series. My favorite parts were Jaina's memories of Jacen. Since I really enjoyed the young Jedi Knight series this is the Jacen I remember. I didn't want to put this book down even though I really didn't like the whole Jacen turning into Darth Caedus storyline. For what it is though it's pretty good. Jaina gets the Master's approval to kill Darth Caedus. Ben gets captured & tortured for the location of the secret Jedi base. Luke makes Caedus think he is the one coming for him instead of the one person he never expects. The moffs make a nanokiller for Boba Fett & they also make one for Tenel Ka. It is released without Caedus's knowledge.Unbeknowest to them his daughter Allana is on board the Dragon Queen also. Who will win the fight between good and evil(Jaina & Darth Caedus) Will Tenel Ka survive & Allana survive. I gave it four stars because I believe it could have been a bit better but it's still a good read.

2: A pleasing end
Ok so they basically re-surrected Fett and his cronies and drug us through all that 'baggage', then when Jaina, trained by Fett no less finally confronts big, bad Jason...we get absolutely no reference to the style of hit/fight/stance really and no, none, zippo, confrontation of sorts. A simple, this is why I have to kill you ________ fill in the blank would have been appreciated. I guess Jason knew it was coming but come on. I mean, even in Episode III, the book and movie, when Obi Wan makes his whole, "You were supposed to be the chosen one..." speech, you get feelings, emotions, and a confrontation. Jaina just kills Jason with no 'making of show' at all. Yes, there is some 'theater' to it when Jason is mentally screaming out to Tenel Ka, but it was all kind of a let down. When Luke faught Jason before, we got fight/style reference or even when he confronted Lumiya, you got the sense of a real confrontation, emotions and all. Luke even had a special lightsaber just to combat Lumiya's lightwhip, but with Jaina and Jason it just seems so simply written.

But all in all, a very pleasing end to another lovely series. Very enjoyable and tied up a lot of the strings.

3: Fitting end to a bad series
I think many of the books in the EU were great. I also think many were terrible at best. This entire series had some great potential, painting the sith in the light of order bearers and the message somehow got lost. Instead, they just turn Jacen into another mindless bad guy drone. Bad decisions, check. Fits of rage, check. No one in the GA takes a step back and says "Hey, this guy named himself Darth Caedus. Didn't we have problems with a Darth something or other not to long ago?" Utterly ridiculous. The death of Mara. What was the point of that? "To show that people can die in the SW universe." Already did that with Chewbacca. "So Jacen could step fully into his role as a sith." Jacen defends himself from an attacker and steps into his role as fully sith with extra powers to boot. Seriously? It's insulting, to say the least. I come finally to the last book. Is there a word that encompasses this better than "rushed?" I mean, two lightsaber fights and bang, end of book, Jacens dead, yadda yadda. "The series will be wrapped up in 'Millenium Falcon!'" So the book labeled as "The Conclusion" isn't the actual conclusion? Instead, it's concluded in a book set years after the events in this series? Again, seriously? This was one of the worst series and it's made so much worse because it started so well and then the writers just went and insulted every fan by spitting out this tripe.

4: Standard of excellence has been upheld
For those that seek development and not stagnation, this has been an incredible series. Many scoffed at the Vong invasion in NJO, and especially with the death of a beloved character, yet it did something bold for the Legacy series. It allowed the Legacy series to break further molds within the GA government structure, the type of leadership both on and offworld, and it put characters in emotional quandaries they'd never faced before. Many mild and bold plot twists regarding interpersonal relationships, plus many shifts in power structure. Government and people at their true nature, from secrets to backstabbing to unlikely alliances, to family feuds both internal and external.

As much as I read and appreciate the older stuff, it doesn't have the same punch, knowing how events with play out. Maybe not the methods, but when you know all the old republic leads to what we know in episodes I - VI, it doesn't have the same effect of the completely unknown.

Overall - good read, good finish, good setup for future stories. A+

This book is great! It is well written, and kept my attention enough to read it in under a week. The seller was very fair and sent me a nice book for a awsome price!
