1: Not very helpful
She displays beautiful pictures, but she's not explaining anything that you don't know. Her recipes are not anything new also :(
I was waiting so much for this book and it was not good enough imho, a waist of money.

2: so much more than I was anticipating
I love this book. I expected a book about how to carve and decorate these fabulous cakes that the bakery is famous for. I was unprepared for the thoroughness of the introductory sections on tools and methods, and the details in the directions. I bought this book thinking it would be an addition to my library of ideas, and I find that I've added to my library of really good instruction in the basics in addition. I recommend it to everyone who is interested in creating fun carved and decorated cakes, beginners and advanced alike. Since I'm not interested in cookies at the moment, I can't comment on the cookies section.

3: love this book
Amazing, Elisa Strauss is very talented. This book will inspire you to higher levels of cake decorating!

4: confetti Cakes Cookbook is a must for serious cake bakers
The cake recipes are the best. Great tasting and easy to carve for sculpture cakes. Easy to follow recipes and instructions on how to do each cake. Out of all the cake decorating books that I own, this is the one I use the most. Must have for cake and cookie bakers. Will make you look like a professional each time.

5: the one and only recipe i tried was great!
i was given this book by a friend who believes it contains the "best ever" recipe for red velvet cake. i have made many and find them ironically either too oily or too dry. this one is quite good, i admit, albeit not the best ever. in any event, the cooking time was wrong! having done a considerable amount of baking myself, i knew i would not need to bake 3 9-inch cakes for 45 minutes. i set my timer for 30 minutes and bingo, that was perfect. had you not known that? bummer!
