1: Truly inspiring!
This book is not just any recreational pop up book, but is an inspiring tool that can give you a deep insight into many aspects of angels through human history and some cultures. I was expecting just a beautiful pop up with stunning angelic displays, but when the shipment arrived I was surprised with a thorough research made on every single one of the displays, which makes it a very good buy.
Of course, if you are looking for a deeper research on angels, you can find many interesting books, but for a pop up book, this one provides excellent information. All this info is skillfully placed and disguised among the paper technology that pops the images up, so the first thing you see when turning every page is a new beautiful, inspiring design. I can't deny the warmth in my heart, nor hide the smile in my face that appears every time I take a look at this book.

Absolutely beautiful--what a special special book-it's truly a piece of art. I will be buying more in the future as special gifts.

3: Angels
"My two-year old boy is dying to get his hands on this. If he succeeds, this will be the worst day of his young life. While the back cover of //Angels// proudly proclaims "for all ages," I think they meant "over two." What an incredible, ornate, extravagant work of art is Chuck Fischer's //Angels//! The paper engineering was done by Bruce Foster, who has his own website dedicated to the craft. I'm amazed at the level of sophistication with which these images were wrought. I don't recall seeing a pop-up book this intricate when I was a young boy. I must say in complete honesty, this work is superlative. I can't heap enough glowing praise on Chuck Fischer, who did the artwork, Bruce Foster who figured out how to fold it all neatly up into a pop-up that is smooth-flowing and easy to open, and to Curtis Flowers for the articulate, eloquent dissertations that give us the legends, myths and history of the Angels. What more perfect time of year to bring out this gem than at the holidays? This is a superb gift book, just not for my two-year old boy. Not this year.

4: A TRIUMPH OF ART AND PAPER ENGINEERING
Artist/designer Chuck Fischer has said of his time as a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome, "The astounding history and variety of angels in art and design that I saw during my stay were a revelation to me and became a new passion."
While what he saw in Rome was a revelation to Fischer, ANGELS, an incredibly beautiful, intricately designed pop-up book, will be a revelation to many. Master paper engineer Bruce Foster has worked magic with every spread so one finds it impossible to choose a favorite, but simply enjoy each again and again. Rich with some 100 original illustrations, angels from differing cultures are presented in three dimensional scenes with movable parts accompanied by commentary that provides the angels' stories.
Divided into three sections, the book focuses on Messengers, A Hierarchy of Angels, and Secular Angels and includes an explanatory narrative for each gorgeous pop-up. We often learn how and why these mystical beings came to be represented as they are not only in art but also in literature.
ANGELS is surely one of the most elaborate pop-up books I've ever seen. The ingenuity of the paper engineering coupled with the inspiring subject matter make it a pleasure to behold and a treasure to keep.

5: A HALO of a book! It stands UP and reaches OUT!
HARKEN readers and art admirers who enjoy inspiring illustrations, witty and researched writing and LOVES the element of surprise! The images and prose literally rise off the many glorious pages in this new pop-up book!
YES, the book is gorgeous, well-planned and inviting. It is also inviting to ANY age. It is the perfect, loving opportunity to teach a young person how to look with one's eyes and listen with one's soul. If it is torn, what a wonderful opportunity to teach curiousity and learn how to reason the construction and repair. However, it is constructed sturdily! I have sold hundreds of this book, not one has arrived amiss or torn in our shop by patrons!
YES, a lasting tear can teach that life is fragile, to handle with care, yet we make mistakes, we are to be forgiven, reconcile and continue on. A family together reading is the perfect setting to open many dialouges to not only feed one's eyes, but one's soul.
YES, also, this is a perfect gift for one that isn't deeply spiritual. This pop-up book can not only be delved deeply with-in, but be appreciated on a topical layer, its beauty, by world-recognized artist Chuck Fischer will be enjoyed by any that open this book. Yet it does offer more, when the reader chooses to explore.
Thanks Chuck for again enriching our world, making it a more beautiful place; to be enjoyed through vision and in spirit! As you have originated in the Heartland of America, this centering essence and literally, moving interpretation is truly a gift to us all!
