1: Very helpful and even entertaining
I really enjoyed this book - it answered so many questions the doctors just did not go into. You hear so many horror stories of being on steroids and this put it into prospective and also gave you an idea of things to look out for. The human interest of the 2 women made it easy to relate to and easy to read and understand.

2: Coping With prednisone - lifting the fog
A high dose prednisone regimen can bring down even the strongest person. Doctors tell you your problems are all part of the steroid therpy and they will go away at some point but they seem not to be able to elaborate on them. The author outlines all of the problems she encounters while on steroids and how she coped/overcame them. Her sister, a medical doctor, is involved all the way through the book giving her perspective on what is happening. Inability to sleep for more than 3 hour at a time and brain fog bother me most and it was reassuring to follow the author's struggle with the same problems. This is one of the few books on high dose steroid therapy that is avilable and it is well worth the read.

3: Good Info
Although this book does provide some good information it does not fit with the reality of my situation. There are those of us who have been placed on Prednisone by our doctors and are not fully informed of the side affects, until too late. The author of this book was diligent in researching ahead of time and had the will power (and time) to eat correctly and exercise sufficiently to stay-off the fattening effects of the drug. My case was different in that I was told, primarily, very little on the effects until after I had begun the therapy for hepatitus. This information needs to be read BEFORE starting the drug.

4: Prednisone book
I had been hearing out this book from other steroid-dependant people I knew so I couldn't wait until the new edition came out. I'm glad I purchased it and it does have some good information. I would definitely recommend this to someone new to steroid therapy. However, for myself, after several years of continued steroid use, I didn't really find anything I didn't already know - which I guess is also comforting. It was nice to hear about someone else's experiences with the drug, and I can totally sympathize with her. However, I sometimes found myself wishing I had heard from several people who had to take the drug for much longer - years instead of months. Overall, though, I thought the book was well-written and more importantly well-researched. I'd recommend for anyone who has to take this "miracle" drug.

5: A must-read
I've been on Prednisone since August. Before starting it, I read this book and did everything that was suggested. I haven't had any of the usual side effects of the drug and have actually lost weight. My doctor says he's never seen anyone handle the drug so well. Eating healthy is not inexpensive, but I'd highly recommend this book.
