1: wow, I sure learned a lot in short time.....
Well, I just moved to the US and therefore my English is not that good but this book has a lot of color pictures explaining everything very good. I had absolutely no problem following through and it was easy to learn things very quick.
I can only RECOMMEND this book - if you want to improve on your Logic skills.
So far I haven't even touched the DVD coming with the book but already have increased my working flow by at least 50%.
I would never give this book away anymore - or at least not as long as I don't know everything by heart ;-).

2: Good desk reference, but lacks tutorials
I'm more than half-way through this book and must say it offers a lot of helpful insight but no real in depth exercises to apply anything you've learned; you have to kind of do that on your own. The book comes with a CD with source files that you can use for your own exercises, or you can just record from scratch. There are a lot of typos, but nothing too awful; you get the point as you read.
I like that the book points out shortcut keys for various tools, screens, etc.; I am personally a big fan of shortcuts in any application.
If you are just starting out with Logic, and starting out with a home studio/small project studio, this is a great book. It helps to point out different pieces of hardware you can add on to your studio (audio interfaces, control units, monitors, etc.) on a good-better-best type scale, so you can research and do price comparisons to see if they are things you would like to have in your studio.
In short, this book is more of a "bible"; it's nice to have nearby so you can look things up for those "how do I do that again?" moments. It is in complete color which is very nice. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for something with tutorials and exercises.
My next purchase will be "Apple Pro Training: Logic Express and Logic Pro"; it seems to offer a more tutorial based training to really apply what you are learning.

3: Get your own copy! I am not letting this one out of my sight. The BEST!
Well folks, I have seen them all, and I mean every book, video, compilation of information on Logic Pro 8 currently in print and produced.
This is without doubt the best written and laid out of all the publications going.
All this and it is in colour as well. I almost did not buy this but this is my most referred to volumn.
I have found for me, an intermediate user, that the information within is clear and detailed and answers many
of the questions that need to be asked to get to a level of comfortability in using this great program.
Recently I brought it to a Music store with some great people who use Logic and Cubase and they took a look and everyone wanted to borrow it. No way I said, buy your own. This is not one you want to lend out as you will never get it back. Buy it now! Get your own! I hope these authors keep on writing great books so that all of us can experience the greatest and totally wonderful program out there. Check it out now. The BEST!
