1: loved this one One of the best books on the gothic and sentimental novel that I've encountered.
2: Who is that second reader trying to kid? It's great to be reminded about all these early sentimental novels, but that's about it. So maybe the best thing about Stern's book is the bibliography. It sure isn't the prose or the insights. I was SO disappointed by this book.
3: Absolutely outstanding This is perhaps the sharpest, most interesting book I have ever read. A must buy for any scholar or student of literature.
