1: Very Cute
Very cute book. I bought it for my one year old- it's way too advanced for her. But when she's about 4-5 yrs old, she'll love it. It also included the recipe in the back so you can spend time together making some delicious strawberry shortcake!

2: Good book for a Reader's Theater
I made this book into a really fun Reader's Theater. The kids loved it and after it was performed we made strawberry shortcakes.

3: Belly Laughter
Janet and Susan never fail bringing homour and laughter into our home. My children beg me to read this or one of their other books everyday. The characters are amazing and the dialogue is engaging for all of us- my two year old son, 5 year old daughter, AND mom and dad:).
This Christmas I bought Cook-A-Doodle-Doo and The Little Red Hen, aprons, and a bag of flour for my neice and nephew so they can recreate the recipe Rooster and his friends follow in this book. sooo much fun!!!

This book is FUN! It is a book I can enjoy reading just as much as my kids enjoy hearing it.

5: Great gift for pre-schoolers
As a school librarian I have used this book too many times to count. I regularly read it to my pre-school students along with introducing them to kitchen tools. Not only is the story a fun read aloud, it also includes great kitchen and cooking tips.
Whenever anyone asks me for gift advice for 4 or 5 year olds, this is always at the top of my list. The kids love reading it over and over and many have helped cook Strawberry Shortcake from the recipe included.
