1: The Chameleon Wore Chartreuse
What I would say, this is a amazing book for children 4th grade or 3rd grade. This book has a very good humor. It's about a gecko named Chester Gecko ( Chet for short ) that acts like a detective and has to find Shirley Charmeleon's little brother Billy. If he finds her brother he will get the leftovers of Shirley Charmeleon's dad's stinkbug pie.
He really wants it but see what happens at the end of the story before you say he wants always! Chet Gecko is a series of books and they are reccomended for children. It may have some hard words for some children but they could sound them out or read them in the dictionary. Its a 5 star childrens book.

2: Great intro to a great series
My son is [...] and hates chapter books, he would much rather be reading non-fiction. When I found the Chet Gecko series at the store, I took a chance and bought the first book. At first my son refused to read it, but after reading the first two chapters aloud as a bedtime story, he was hooked. He has since read all of the Chet Gecko novels and loves each and every one. I have read most of them to my students, (I teach reading recovery in a middle school)and they have always been a huge hit. While he may not be reading Chaucer, I am very happy to see him reading chapter books and enjoying himself. My six year old daughter also loves having the books read to her. I would recommend the Chet Gecko to any child, boy or girl, as a great introduction to mystery novels, detective stories, and bad puns.

3: Analytical Response

This story is mostly about a gecko venturing to find a lost boy named Billy. After quit a few clues he amazingly found the boy. This story has a good vs. evil theme, because Chet and Natalie are good and they are challenging the two rat sisters and Herman the Gila monster. Plus Herman even tied Chet and Natalie above a pool, boiling with chlorine. The author's message is you should never give up because you can always solve a mystery if you try really, really hard. There are other messages like friends can really help you, because Natalie helped Chet solve the great mystery. If I could trade places with someone in the story, I would trade places with Natalie, because she can fly because she is a bird. Natalie is a symbol of helping because she helped Chet the gecko solve the mystery of where the heck is Billy. I think the title doesn't go with the story very much, because the only thing the same is the chameleon part. I also think it was an uneven battle, because there was three bad characters and only two good characters. Before I read this story I thought you had to be an adult to solve a mystery but now that I read this story my schema has changed and now I know that anybody can solve a mystery... not just adults. This story would be perfect for third and fourth graders.

4: Corrupting Our Children
Bruce Hale encourages violance and judgemental attitudes. As a teacher, there is no way I would allow my students to read this book.

5: This is a fantastic book
Chet gecko is just one of the many average geckoes at his school but there's something different about him: he's a private eye. Solving mysteries as he solves his math problems, theirs a problem at Chet's school, Billy has gone missing. Is it up to Chet to find him? It won't be that easy. A certain someone is standing in his way. Billy's sister Sherly offers Chet a big piece of stinkbug pie if he could find him. Chet cannot refuse a tasty snack. Chet gets some help from his new sidekick.

This was my first book I really enjoyed. I'm now reading the rest of the books in the series. It's a really funny book and it has a great mystery. When I laugh it makes me want to read more.
