1: Love It!
Leon and the spitting image is about a boy named Leon and his two best friends Lily Matisse, and P.W. At the start of 4th grade Leon is cheerful and exited about the start of a new year, but when he meets his teacher Miss Hagmeyer also known as the Hag, his spirits drift away.The hag enjoys sewing and forces the students to sew stuffed animals and as Miss Hagmeyer says it animiles. Unfortunately that is exactly what Leon does not like! Will he make it though the year? - Maya, age 9

2: Nothing Special
I can't understand why anyone would give this book a high rating. It wasn't anything special. The writing was very average, the story not very interesting. I guess after reading better books, I have high expectations.

If you like mysteries,spookiness,and maybe even sewing. I recomend this book,because it is funny and full of adventure.Allen Kurzwell put a lot of detail into this book,I didn't dislike anything in this great book.

4: A Deliciously Quirky Book for Kids!
Fourth grader Leon lives with his mother in their eccentric apartment house in New York City. Leon is nervous about going into the fourth grade, and is horrified to find out his teacher is the dreaded Mrs.Hagmire. She is well known for her obsession with sewing which is especially bad for Leon because of his poor fine motor skills. She forces her students to create "animles" (in other words models of animals) sewn from her old panty hose. A bizarre accident involving a jar of spit gives Leon's animle strange powers. This is a fast paced funny book that will appeal to those who enjoy humorous fantasy.

5: Excitement, magic, and mystery
I think that Leon and the Spitting Image is a great book that a lot of readers would love to read. It's about Leon Ziezel and his two friends, Lilly-Matise and P.W., and how they try to survive fourth grade and avoid being caught by Miss Hagmeyer (or "The Hag") their teacher who is obsessed with sewing and medieval things, and Henry Lumkin (or "Hank the Tank") the school bully. But with a little bit of spit, everything could change. I recommend this book for anyone who likes excitement, magic, and mystery kind of things.
