1: Doesn't work as a stand-alone
When I bought this at a used book store, I didn't know that it was part of a series. Not that I would have let that stop me, as many authors these days can write linked books that can also be read on their own.
But this one didn't fit that criteria. I was left feeling lost. There were so many characters (obviously familiar ones to those reading the series) that I had a very difficult time keeping track of them all. I shouldn't need a cheat sheet to keep the cast of characters straight.
Also, I felt like the romance part of the story was on the back burner, while the mystery/intrigue part of it stole centre stage. I want the romance to be the primary focus in the romance novels I read, with the other plot lines being secondary. I felt that the romance was neglected to develop the mystery.
Also, all the code names for the players in the mystery part of the book ("The Saint of the Seven Dials", "The Black Bishop", "Puss in Boots", etc) had me rolling my eyes. I was starting to feel like I'd picked up one of my husband's fantasy novels by mistake.
I tried to get past all this and finish the book, but my attention kept wandering, and the characters never captured my heart. I may try another of this author's books in the future, but only if I don't have to pay for it.

2: Fine Regency romance!
I found Noel and Rowena to be another very sweet romantic couple. I do not think like another reviewer that these stories are repetitive - only that each of the men attempts to recreate the Saint - but the romances and the women are all completely different and all very nicely written. This, as in the others I felt a strong connection between Noel and Rowena. I may be a sucker for romance but I did love this story very much!!

3: CAN THE SAINT OF SEVEN DIALS PLOT DRAG ANYMORE?
I really enjoyed the first in this series, the second one was a little too repetitive for me, but this one was too much. Noel is the third Saint of Seven Dials and hopefully the last (Unfortunately it's not). Does anyone else notice that this is the same storyline everytime with slightly different characters? I thought Rowenna was a strong woman and I might have enjoyed her in another story. Noel was a great secondary character, but I wasn't given enough about him to really care. Rowenna and Noel's romance was uninspiring and the plot tiring. I only finished it because I can't start a book without finishing it. Not sure what Hiatt was doing, but I'm ashamed to admit I read the next book just to see if she could redeem herself. NOPE

4: fine Regency romance
In 1816 country mouse Rowena Riverstone visits London to meet William Corbett, editor of the Political Register. Rowena has submitted several controversial articles under the alias MRR to the Register.Bow St. Runner Noel Paxton is the current Robin Hood "Saint of Seven Dials" robbing the rich to help the poor. He hopes the guise will enable him to uncover a spy that he believes is connected to Rowena based on her articles. Noel "courts" Rowena expecting to find the connection, but instead discovers that his heart connects to that of the bumpkin. Even as Noel revises his secret agenda to keep his cherished Rowena safe, he may prove too late as his previous efforts to identify and capture the deadly agent through her places his beloved in danger. Fans of the exciting "Saint of Seven Dials" will enjoy the latest reincarnation of the hero who changes when the previous player falls in love. Even with a hidden agenda, Noel is typical of the champions as he cares what happens to those around him and when he loves he does so with all his soul. INNOCENT PASSIONS is a fine entry that displays why Regency romance readers revere Brenda Hiatt. Harriet Klausner
